A ROUND OF APPLAUSE, PLEASE!

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Friends of the Napa Library. FOL could not hold its book sales, keep the library’s lobby shelves well stocked, give books to the state hospital, local laundromats, and pediatricians’ offices without volunteers. They sort and clean, organize and catalog, and staff our big multi-day sales. They set up and tear down; they share ideas and insights. It’s a team of over 50 people strong!

One of our longtime volunteers Carolyn Zeuthen has finally ended her sorting “career” with FOL. (She sorted books for two hours each Saturday afternoon.) Although she doesn’t have a regular “job”, she still continues to volunteer with FOL. This time it is on an as-needed basis. Whatever works for her! We are thrilled to have her continued involvement.

Why do people like Carolyn get involved with FOL? Here’s what two sorters shared recently:
“I enjoy my volunteer work for FOL because I think libraries are very important to communities, and our work assists the Napa library in its efforts to enrich the community through access to books, programs, and education. “The first thing I did when I retired was join the Friends of the Library. I have always felt the local library is such a very important support system to our community.
