Rare; Unusual; Vintage; First Editions…

January 16, 2018

When we receive valuable and rare books from our generous donors, we first offer them for sale on our E-bay site before placing them in the book sale as a “Special Priced” item.  We do this to give a wider audience the opportunity to acquire something special.  If you are interested in discovering what is currently offered for sale, please click here to be transferred to our Ebay page.  A connection to the site is also found on each page of our site at the right hand bottom section titled “LINKS”.  So visit the site and see what we currently have available for sale.

BOOKS AVAILABLE FOR FIRE VICTIMS

November 27, 2017

As the fires that ravaged our county and our neighbors in Sonoma County,  The Friends of the Napa Library (” the Friends”), along with just about everyone else, looked for ways to help the victims.  The one way we could help obviously involved books! The Friends provided many boxes of books to the shelter at the Napa Valley College and other places where families looked for ways to bring some normalcy to their lives.

We still have thousands of children’s books, trade and mass paperbacks which are available to anyone or any organization that needs them to restock schools, day care facilities, doctor’s offices, senior centers, community centers or home libraries lost in the fires.  Whether it be a group or organization that helps others or a family, the Friends want to do their part to help.  If you or anyone you know is in need,  give us a call at 707-253-4614 or email us at pensionato2001@aol.com.  We will work with you to get these books into the hands of those who want or need them. They will, of course, be free.

And to everyone who donates their books,  your donations do much good besides and beyond our fundraising book sales.  A Wholehearted  “Thank You” from the Friends.

INTRODUCING READING LISTS – “BOOKS WE LOVE”

September 18, 2017

As Friends of the Napa Library it should go without saying that “We Love Books!” and spend a lot of time reading new publications, old friends and soon to be old friends. We wanted to share our passion with our community so we asked our membership to help us compile a READING LIST aka “BOOKS WE LOVE” in hopes that our suggestions give you a new reason to love books as we do. It is sort of like “Employee Favorites” at your local bookstore.

The list is made up of books we have read in our own book clubs, books from our favorite authors that may or may not be as well known as some of their works and other gems we have run into from time to time. And we try to cover as many genres as possible to appeal to as many of you as possible.

So visit our Volunteer Page to see our first installment of Books We Love. We will update this list from time to time so keep coming back to check out new additions to the list. Bookmark us for easy returns.

BOOK DONATIONS

Did you know that ALL OF THE BOOKS, CDs, DVDs and RECORDED BOOKS come from donations? While some of the donations come from the library as they cycle media out of their inventory, most of the items we sell come from donations by the public. Without donations, we cannot fund various programs at the library.
Please visit our Donations Page for more information on how to make a Book/CD/DVD donation.
