Our First One-day Book Sale – An Alternative to BottleRock!

April 4, 2017

Because construction and remodeling projects at the Napa County Library have played havoc with our BOOK SALE SCHEDULE,  the Friends of the Napa Library has arranged to hold three smaller sales before we get back to our “normal” schedule in August.  These sales are open to members of the Friends and non-members alike.

The first of these “one day” sales will be held on Saturday, May 27 from 10 am to 5 pm in the Workforce Room at the Library.  The Workforce Room is located directly across from the information desk.  This sale will feature only Better/Special Priced Books.  As donations come in, we have set aside those books that we feel have something about them that sets them apart from our general offerings.  They can be rare, first editions, complete sets of popular fiction or something that strikes us as being above the ordinary.  As with the special books in our normal sales, the books will be priced individually and the prices will be marked on each book.

These Better/Special Priced Books have always been a popular section of our normal sales.   Regular shoppers look forward to see what treasures have been donated to the Friends and you never know what will be for sale this time!!

Lobby Book Sale Expands

January 12, 2017

Did you know there are books for sale in the lobby of the Library all the time?  Look to the left as you enter the library. You will see our expanded sales area.  The shelves are full of volumes that have been specially selected for sale.  There are popular authors, new-er releases, current topics and ones we just find interesting.  Each book is usually $2 and the proceeds from the sales go to support programs at the library.  So when you come to the library, check it out.

The sale is on the honor system so after you have gathered your purchases, please put your money in the cash box located on the wall between the sale shelves. You can see it in the photo.

Temporary Book Store Closing

January 6, 2017

While our regular production area (where we accept, sort, clean and box books in anticipation of our quarterly book sales) was under construction we were fortunate enough to utilize the Community Room at the Napa County Library to hold an on-going Book Sale in place of our quarterly sales.  Now that the renovation of our production area is complete we will be moving out of the Community Room and to our new space.

The Children’s section is the next area for renovation so they will be moving to the Community Room as soon as we vacate.  What does this mean for our Book Store and book sales?

It means that we have shut down the store and will defer our 2017 sales until the Summer of 2017.  We thank everyone who visited the Book Store and made it a success. We have had many positive comments about the full time store and why can’t we be open all of the time.  For now the short answer is location and staff.   But that doesn’t mean that sometime in the future we don’t get the shopkeeper bug again.

BOOK DONATIONS

Did you know that ALL OF THE BOOKS, CDs, DVDs and RECORDED BOOKS come from donations? While some of the donations come from the library as they cycle media out of their inventory, most of the items we sell come from donations by the public. Without donations, we cannot fund various programs at the library.
Please visit our Donations Page for more information on how to make a Book/CD/DVD donation.
